Who we are
It is our top priority to offer a wide selection of tubes for guitar and hifi amps. We put all of our tubes through a demanding testing process to find the tubes with the best quality, low noise and most durability. Based on five years of experience and customer feedback, we can give you voicings of certain tubes and recommendations for certain musical tones you are after - even if this means selling you a less expensive tube. Since everyone who works at Doug's Tubes plays guitar, we are in the same quest as you are to find the tones we want. However, tone is subjective, and we suggest trying out different tubes to decide which sounds best.
Currently, we are a three man band.
Doug Preston has been a guitar player and audiophile for over thirty years and decided to take his passion to the next level. He has what is generally known as 'GAS' or Gear Addiction Syndrome. In 20 years, he has shown no signs of improvement or improving.
Matt Preston joined the team almost two years ago, and has his hands in everything from shipping, testing, to web design and maintainence. When Matt isn't tubing, he writes music (sings, guitar) with Brian and some friends. Demo is scheduled somewhere between next month and the next five years :) He plays a '96 sunburst strat out of a Orange Rockerverb 50w.
Brian Preston, also joined the team almost two years ago, and handles all the inventory. Brian plays an '83 sunburst fender telecaster out of a Vox AC30.
We are a family owned business that operates out of Long Island, NY. Doug started Doug's Tubes almost five years ago. Originating from his love of guitar and audio, we have helped thousands of guitarists and audiophiles in their quest for tone.
