Fender Bassman - 1967

Problem: Wanted tubes that would open up the amp.

Ordered: (1) Matched Pair TAD 6L6GC-STR

Response: Doug! These tubes are completly awesome. Its mad, my 67 fender bassman really came to life. Thanks for the check up.

Purchase this set up:

Fender Concert (circa '83)

Problem: Old power tubes.

Ordered: (1) Matched Pair TAD 6L6GC-STR

Response:Thanks for checking in. I recently put in a new set of TAD 6L6's in a Rivera designed Fender Concert (circa '83). They sound really nice and musical, I had the filter caps done and a general maintenance too at the same time. All things considered , I think that amp has never sounded any better. Thanks. Best Wishes,

Purchase this set up:

Fender Pro Junior

Problem: Wanted to increase cleans and quiet the amp down.

Type of Music: Christian Rock

Ordered: (1) Matched Pair Electro-Harmonix EL84
                (2) Electro Harmonix 12AY7

Response: They're doing great. They went in a Fender Pro Junior and did just what I was wanting. They quieted down the background hiss a little and increased clean headroom a little. The amp is perfect for my Praise Band in Church and the new
tubes made it more so.

Purchase this set up:

Framus Cobra

Problem: Wanted tubes that would deliver nice thick heavy sound.

Type of Music: Hardcore/Metal

Ordered: (1) Matched Quad Ruby EL34
                (3) Electro Harmonix 12ax7 w/ Balanced Triodes
                (2) Shuguang 12ax7 9th gen w/ Balanced Triodes

Response: Doug! I had them plugged into my Framus Cobra head and had it biased at 33mA and immediately noticed a HUGE difference in my sound. I don't think I could be happier with the tones I am getting. For the style of music our band plays these tubes are perfect! Thanks for everything!

Purchase this set up:

Genz Benz el Diablo 100 Head. #2

Problem:Looking for recommendation, still had stock tubes.

Type of Music: Alternative/Rock/Metal

Ordered: (1) Matched Quad JJ KT77
                (1) V1 - Tung Sol 12ax7
                (1) V2 - JJ ECC803S
                (1) V3 - Penta 12ax7

Response:The El Diablo sounds like a wall of massive sound. Unfortunately, I managed to drop and break the JJ 803S that was meant to go in it, so only two of the pres got replaced. Still sounds awesome! I just received the new cab for the head today, going from 2x12 to 4x12. I get to test it tonight at practice.

Purchase this set up:

Marshall 1987x

Problem: Old tubes. Looking for the amp to come alive and sing, with a nice breakup.

Ordered: (1) Matched Pair JJ E34L

Response: I put a pair of them in my Marshall 1987x and it sound absolutely amazing now. I've been using JJ E34Ls in it before but these babies really made it come alive, very rich sounding with amazing breakup, made me fall in love wit the amp all over again!

Purchase this setup:

Mesa Boogie Mark III

Problem: Old tubes. Looking to retube the entire unit-Both preamp and poweramp.

Ordered: (1) Matched Pair SED 6L6
                (1) Tung Sol 12ax7
                (1) High Gain JJ
                (1) Penta 12ax7
                (1) Shuguang 12ax7 9th gen.
                (1) Sovtek LPS 12ax7

Response: Hi Matt or Doug or whoever reads this :) The tubes sound absolutely fantastic, really tightened up and evened out the sound of the amp really well as well as adding a really nice feel, it's very sensitive to changes in picking dynamics etc. So yeah all in all I couldn't be happier with them :D

Mesa Triple Rectifier

Problem: My dirty tone sounds decent, but I'm wondering if I've never even heard the full capabilities of this triple rec since I haven't ever played it with brand new tubes. So basically a heavy balanced tone which will allow me to move from rock/metalish single note riffs to big open chord choruses.

Type of Music: Rock/Metal

Ordered: (1) Matched Sextet SED 6L6
                (1) Tung Sol 12ax7
                (1) High Gain JJ
                (1) Penta 12ax7
                (1) Shuguang 12ax7 9th gen.
                (1) Sovtek LPS 12ax7

Response: It's sounding much better than before. Cleans opened up, dirty has more bite. I'll be sure to let you know if I decide to try some different options or stock up on what I have already.

Mesa 5:50 1 X 12

Problem: Never changed the tubes before.

Ordered: (1) Matched Pair SED 6L6
                (1) Tung Sol 12ax7
                (1) High Gain JJ
                (1) Penta 12ax7
                (1) Shuguang 12ax7 9th gen.
                (1) Sovtek LPS 12ax7

Response: Big success. It made a significant improvement and
1) reduced hiss a lot
2) increased gain on the burn chanel while still keeping the same chimy cleans
3) made the tones even smoother and clearer on all channels
Made a great amp even better. Well worth an extra $US100

Peavey 6505+

Problem: Looking to quiet the amp down. Very flat sound.

Ordered: (1) Tung-Sol 12AX7
                (1) Penta 12AX7
                (2) Shuguang 12AX7 9th gen.
                (1) Shuguang 12AX7 9th gen. Balanced

Response: The 6505+ got an all-JJ retube, which sounds great now! A lot more lively and defined.

Peavey XXX

Problem: Needed more punch. Looking for more definition in his dirty channel.

Ordered: (1) Matched Quad Ruby EL34
                (1) JJ ECC803

                (1) JAN 5751

                (2) Shuguang 12AX7 9th gen.

Response: Just wanted to let you know I received the tubes yesterday and am very pleased. The 2 dirty channel's have more punch and better note definition, and the clean channel is really fat, but it's more like an overdriven clean, in other words, not very clean at all. That's ok though, because I like it like that for live use. The crunch channel has a modded Marshall feel to it that is just ripping. You nailed my description right on the head with this one. The ultra channel is more modern sounding with the gain a little looser that the crunch channel. I guess I would consider this channel in the Boogieesque area. It pulls off a good "scooped" tone, but still cuts through really well. Overall I will have to say I am very pleased! Keep up the great work
